I assumed as much, but I don't understand why.

Why take away out memories only to return them IF we take another's life? It's clearly not for incentive. Most are unaware of this condition.

Not yet. There is an acceptable condition where this may be revealed to the general population. It has not yet been met. I will reveal it if I believe it is necessary.

Necessary - how? If something the Complex lacks a protocol for occurs?

Or would it be if enough residents stumble upon this mechanism, that keeping it hidden becomes a moot point?

No. If a particular series of events occur, then revealing it is necessary for the Complex's purpose to continue.

I suppose I should assume asking what these events are, and what the Complex's purpose is, would be too much.

Yes, it would be.

However, I can tell you that it is to prompt the events that will allow you to leave. Not all of you will leave. It is my job to ensure that the criteria for opening the door is met.

Would only the ones who have successfully recovered their memories be allowed to leave?

Not necessarily. However, it may not be possible to regain them once the door has been opened. I do not know what occurs after residents leave their Complex.

If it may be impossible once we leave, is there something inside the Complex that allows us to regain our memories?
